BestCareerSkills is an e-learning platform that supplements a traditional education by teaching students and recent graduates the core skills they need to excel in university or professional environments.
BestCareerSkills was created to fill the gaps that a traditional education neglects. Today’s students leave school fluent in technical skills, but don’t have the soft skills they need to stand out as a prime candidate in university or on the job. Our experiential approach lets students create their own learning path, learn at their own pace, and apply their learnings in exercises embedded in each course.
Our Leadership Team
Shyam Cholayil, founder, has a unique background that spans both business and academia. Shyam has 25+ years of experience in C-level and executive positions with world-leading organizations including Microsoft, Oracle and Sun Microsystems across disciplines that include technology marketing, business strategy, and market development. While at Microsoft, he headed business development for two of the tech giant’s most profitable lines: Windows Server and SQL Server. Later, he led clients including Dell, HP, Deloitte and Cognizant to develop experiential learning programs.
That experience is coupled with his unique perspective as a lecturer at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. In both business and academia, Shyam has seen the need for today’s young people to hone core skills, and developed BestCareerSkills to meet the needs of modern employers.
Stanley Liao, director, is an entrepreneur and investor with 25+ years of experience as a senior executive at leading software and technology companies including HP, Platinum and Quest Software. He has specific expertise in helping North American technology companies launch operations in Asia Pacific.
As co-founder and COO of eGlobal Technology Services, Stanley jumpstarted their geographical localization operations in Asia Pacific. Later, in 2004, Stanley built, operated, and transferred the operations of Quest Software in Korea, Greater China, and Southeast Asia. He stayed on as Managing Director until the company was acquired by Dell EMC in 2011. Stanley continues to pursue his passion of starting and growing businesses as an investor and advisor. In his free time, Stanley provides coaching and mentoring to young entrepreneurs.
Usha Narayanan, director, has 30+ years of experience working with tech leaders including IBM, Unisys, Informix, and HCL Ltd as an advisor and consultant. Across each role, Usha was focused on rising trends – a skill she continues to leverage as she anticipates the changing educational landscape and needs of modern employers. Her early career in journalism and writing informs her role as BestCareerSkills’ instructional design and content creation leader.
